Islam at the US Capitol

We take great pride in our religious freedom here in the U.S, and for good reason.  Christian principles and values laid a firm foundation for religious tolerance in our country, as reflected in the U.S. Constitution and the constitutions of all 50 states.  No other religion could have fostered the ideas of human equality, freedom and prosperity that we now enjoy as rights in America.

It comes as no surprise, then, that many other religions can flourish in the U.S, including one that has cultivated a deep-seeded hatred of Western civilization and Christianity–Islam.

In the name of tolerance, and in the hopes of placating the swift and fierce retribution of offended, fundamental Muslims, some European governments have taken to incorporating the infamous and rather violent Islamic Sharia law into their statutes.  Some even tolerate Muslim honor killings, which we know happen even in the U.S.think Rifqa Bary.

Why are we talking about this?  Because, thanks to our “tolerant” president, the U.S. has been giving special preference to Islam lately–even as it degrades Christianity.  We saw Pres. Obama tell Egypt that the U.S. no longer considers itself a Christian nation (despite the fact that almost 77% of Americans self-profess to be Christian), and then proclaim to Turkey that we’re one of the largest Muslim nations.  Egypt and Turkey must have gotten quite a kick out of that.

Then, Pres. Obama invited Muslim leaders to the White House for a special Ramadan celebration, even though he refused to invite Christian and Jewish leaders to the White House for the National Day of Prayer earlier in the year.

Now, an estimated 50,000 Muslims will descend on the Capitol this Friday for a Jummah (Friday congregational prayer).  According to the event website, the Muslim call to prayer “will be chanted on Capitol Hill, echoing off of the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument and other great edifices that surround Capitol Hill.”  I wonder if the prayer will “echo” off the walls of the Pentagon, where terrorists killed 184 innocent souls in the name of Islam eight years ago.

Pres. Obama would do well to consider that in his efforts to tolerate all religions, it is disingenuous to elevate one religion above the others–particularly one that is fundamentally opposed to the tenants of human equality and freedom we hold so dear in the U.S.
