It’s hard to believe we’re already back in Springfield again for our family’s fifth NCHBC. Last night was opening ceremonies and once again, the Hammons Student Center at Missouri State was packed with homeschool basketball players and their families. It can get pretty loud in there at times, but when Guy Penrod (former member of the Gaither Vocal Band) sang the national anthem, everyone went completely silent as the entire stadium turned to face the flag, with their hands over their hearts.
We had a 3-point shoot-out, a dunk contest and several exhibition games for girls and boys’ All-Americans. We cheered for our Wisconsin teams in the parade of teams and for one of our varsity players, a 2nd team All-American, during the exhibition game. I’m proud to say Wisconsin was well-represented in the top 12% of homeschool basketball players at the championship, especially considering we have a fraction of the number of teams here that other states have.
Today is more games for our athletic association, and the other Wisconsin teams as well. Some of the siblings/fans are already loosing their voices but we will persevere to the end of the week to cheer on our players!
We’re finally enjoying some beautiful weather here but it’s time to go inside to watch the tip-off. So long from (finally) sunny Springfield, MO!

I’m trying to find a DVD of the Finals game for boys 18U (HCYA vs Memphis) Any ideas on how to find that?

Not sure, Brian. Maybe on the NCHC website? http://nchclive.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=162&Itemid=470
