Wisconsin Family Council’s “Stand With Chick-fil-A/Stand For Marriage” Gift Card Giveaway – Racine

Wisconsin Family Council will be handing out 200-300 gift cards of appreciation at Chick-fil-A tomorrow, Aug. 1, Racine location

Madison— “Wisconsin Family Council has never been ‘chicken’ about supporting traditional marriage. We are the Marriage Champions here in Wisconsin—a title we proudly wear.  Now we are excited to be able to champion Wisconsin’s only Chick-fil-A tomorrow as a part of the nationwide Chick-fil-A Appreciation effort,” said Julaine Appling, president of Wisconsin Family Council.

On Wednesday, August 1, Wisconsin Family Council will be sponsoring a gift card give-away to the first 200-300 customers at the Chick-fil-A store in Racine.

Appling continued, “This is money that our friends have given to us specifically for this effort—to show they support Chick-fil-A and marriage—right here in Wisconsin.  Many people would love to go to Racine and enjoy a meal at Chick-fil-A tomorrow, but they can’t do that.  Giving to support our Stand with Chick-fil-A/Stand for Marriage project enables them to be directly involved.  We are honored to represent these folks who share our belief about marriage.  All the money we raise today will go to this project. We want to put our money where are our values are and also encourage people to continue to support local businesses that share their values.”

Wisconsin Family Council champions traditional marriage statewide by various programs and efforts.  Its sister
organization, Wisconsin Family Action, actively advocates in the state legislature for policies that strengthen and preserve marriage and family—Wisconsin’s best natural resource.

Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco are telling Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy that they don’t want his business because he openly supports traditional marriage. Appling noted, “Hey, as Governor Walker says, ‘Wisconsin is open for business!’ Let’s have some more Chick-fil-A stores open in The Badger State! I can tell you we would do all we could to welcome them.”

Wisconsin’s only Chick-fil-A is located in Racine at the Regency Mall, 5802 Durand Ave.

Wisconsin Family Action Backs “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” August 1

It’s time for a “thank you.”

When it comes to supporting traditional marriage and family values, Wisconsin Family Action isn’t “chicken,” and neither is Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy.

The fast-food franchise has been under attack from homosexual organizations and their supporters because of Cathy’s statement in support of traditional marriage.  Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee (R) has declared August 1st as “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” throughout the nation in an effort to push back against what he describes as “economic bullying” and “intolerant bigotry.”  Both Boston and Chicago mayors are backing efforts to deny Chick-fil-A franchises in their cities, citing Chick-fil-A does not fit in with their values of “inclusion” and “anti-discrimination.”    It appears that inclusion applies only to those who “agree” with a homosexual/same-sex marriage viewpoint, and that First Amendment rights are void in Boston and Chicago.  Chick-fil-A has affirmed that it serves all people equally.

Wisconsin Family Action recognizes this as more than an attack on First Amendment rights; it is an outright war on religious liberty.  WFA president Julaine Appling issued this statement:

“Dan Cathy, president of Chick-Fil-A, is a Christian who runs his successful company based on Christian principles.  He and Chick-Fil-A are being vilified for Mr. Cathy’s personal statement that he believes marriage is between one man and one woman.  Wisconsin Family Action applauds Mr. Cathy’s position and his willingness to state it publicly.  We believe he made his position known graciously and respectfully. The August 1 idea provides people who appreciate Mr. Cathy and his courage and position, as well as his company, to show him that appreciation by going to one of his stores and making a purchase.

What is frightening about what is happening to Mr. Cathy and his company is that it shows us how very much some want to bully Christians into silence, in spite of our constitutionally protected freedom of speech and religion.  May God give all of us the courage to keep graciously but firmly speaking the truth in the public arena.

“We hope the lines at Chick-Fil-A in Racine will be very long on Wednesday, August 1, and we hope more Chick-Fil-A restaurants will show up in The Badger State. Unlike Chicago and Boston, as Governor Walker says, Wisconsin is open for business!”

WFA President Julaine Appling Commends Cong. Sensenbrenner’s Religious Liberty Bill

Madison—Wisconsin Congressman F. James Sensenbrenner (R) announced yesterday that he is authoring legislation that will repeal the “Obamacare Religious Freedom Tax.”

Following is a statement from Wisconsin Family Action’s president, Julaine Appling, reacting to Rep. Sensenbrenner’s proposal.

“Congressman Sensenbrenner is the cavalry riding to our rescue. As he says, ‘our religious liberties are not bartering chips.’

“The Obama Administration appears to be determined to trounce on the vestiges of religious freedom we have left. Until November, Congress is our best hope for pushing back against the excesses of this administration that seems determined to silence or punish people of faith. We are proud of Congressman Sensenbrenner and greatly appreciate his leadership on this Religious Freedom Tax Repeal Act.

“Obamacare requires that religiously-affiliated organizations or institutions be subject to a hefty fine for following their closely-held religious and conscience beliefs rather than obeying the onerous law. Apparently we need to remind some people that this is America.

“Our First Amendment religious freedom is a foundational freedom, referred to by our Founders as the ‘first freedom.’ Protecting this important freedom is more important now than ever. As we know, this move by the Obama Administration is clearly not about contraception, and it’s not exclusively about Roman Catholics. It is about religious freedom, and it affects all people of faith, regardless of religious denomination or affiliation. If those opposed to this ‘first freedom’ are successful on this first push, they will continue with their bullying.

“All freedom-loving Wisconsin citizens ought to thank Rep. Sensenbrenner for standing up for our religious liberty. His bill protects not only religiously-affiliated organizations and institutions, but also protects any employer from any excise tax, certain lawsuits and penalties if the employer has a group health plan that doesn’t cover contraceptives because the employer objects to doing so on the basis of religious belief or moral conviction. That is exactly as it ought to be. Private citizen-employers should have such protections; that’s what religious freedom is all about.

“Obamacare needs to be repealed for many reasons, not the least of which is its attack on religious freedom. We are grateful for Rep. Sensenbrenner and others, including Governor Scott Walker, for standing up against the tyranny of those who want to destroy our freedoms.”

WFA Supports Sensenbrenner Bill to Preserve Religious Liberty

U.S. Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-WI) has introduced legislation that would prohibit the Federal Government from penalizing for noncompliance with the HHS mandate (Patient Care and Affordability Act), or Obamacare.

Wisconsin Family Action strongly supports Rep. Sensenbrenner’s efforts to curtail this infringement upon religious liberty by the Federal Government.

Wisconsin Family Action Domestic Partnership Registry Lawsuit Goes to WI Supreme Court

For two years Appling vs Doyle has been working its way through Wisconsin’s judicial system.  Wisconsin Family Action’s President Julaine Appling, along with several WFA board members, filed a lawsuit in 2010 asserting that the statewide, same-sex-only domestic partnership registry is unconstitutional.  Today, the state Appeals Court decided not to rule on the case but to ask the Wisconsin Supreme Court to take the lawsuit and ultimately issue a ruling.

Wisconsin Family Action believes the domestic partnership registry enacted by Governor Doyle in June of 2009 violates the marriage amendment as it mimics marriage by creating a “legal status identical or substantially similar to that of marriage for unmarried individuals.”

Appling reacted to today’s news, “We knew that eventually this case would land in the Supreme Court so this is not surprising to us. The timing of the decision was unexpected, but not that the Appellate Court took this action.  As the Court said, the case has far-reaching implications.”

Appling concluded “We trust the Wisconsin Supreme Court will consider the case on its merits and we are confident they will deem this domestic partnership registry unconstitutional.”

Kimberly-Clark Promotes Gay Event for Minor Children in Menasha, WI

Minors/youth ages 14-18 are being utilized as pawns for a fund-raising GAY EVENT sponsored by Wisconsin corporation KIMBERLY-CLARK at Waverly Beach Restaurant in Menasha, Wisconsin on September 18 under the guise of a beach party.  Harmony Cafe (a program of GOODWILL INDUSTRIES of North Central Wisconsin) is hosting the event. Goodwill has the event advertised at the bottom of their home page HERE and even posts/exposes the names of the attendees as they register on Facebook.
While Kimberly-Clark’s website touts a “healthy lifestyles” page and encourages employees and community members to make healthy domestic lifestyle choices, this company is endorsing the most dangerous physical lifestyle known to man, homosexuality, and engaging youth to assist in the appropriation of funding of a local gay club. Apparently, Kimberly-Clark has not been paying attention to the CDC website’s statistics regarding the dangerous and deadly effects of gay/lesbian sex.  Regarding men alone the CDC states, “Men who have sex with men (MSM) accounted for 61% of the estimated new HIV infections in 2009.” Promoting and sponsoring a homosexual event using children to coerce adults into opening their pocketbooks is not only shameful, it is an outright slap in the face to the citizens of Wisconsin, who overwhelmingly support a state law upholding marriage as between one man and one woman.
It is no secret that Kimberly-Clark is an advocate for homosexuality, having received a score of 90 out of 130  100 from the nationally known Human Rights Campaign ( LGBT equal rights organization) for embracing homosexual equality/domestic partner benefits  within their company.

Wisconsin Family Action denounces Kimberly-Clark’s sponsorship of the GLBT event for youth. While Kimberly-Clark chooses to promote a homosexual agenda within its own ranks, it is detestable that they have now stepped out into our communities to undermine parents, the law and the precious lives of Wisconsin’s children.  Wisconsin families deserve more respect than this.
