Outpouring of Support for Traditional Marriage in Racine Today

Wisconsin Family Council took part in humbling history today as folks from all over the state of Wisconsin, as well as many Illinoians, stood with Chick-fil-A and supported free speech and religious liberty. From the time the doors of Chick-fil-A in Racine opened at 10 a.m. there was a line of people waiting to make a purchase to show their support for the company’s stand on traditional marriage and biblical principles. The hoards of supporters who came out today, Imagedeemed “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” by former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, were indicative of the great value Wisconsinites place on traditional marriage, free speech, and religious freedom. Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy’s adherence to high standards were honored by this franchise in Racine, which was well-prepared as employees greeted each customer with a smile, refilled beverages in the mall seating area and took hot food to waiting customers. From time to time, one of the staff members walked along the snaking line of supporters to thank them for their patience and reassure them they would be taken care of as quickly as possible.

Wisconsin Family Council took a firm stand alongside Chick-fil-A today and put their money where their values are by giving away $5 gift cards to the first 200-300 customers. The “Stand With Chick-fil-A/Stand For Traditional Marriage” appreciation effort by Wisconsin Family Council was met with grateful enthusiasm from Chick-fil-A supporters, many of whom had not known about the giveaway.

Wisconsin Family Council president Julaine Appling stated, “We are not surprised at this turnout. What we witnessed today was what we know to be true about Wisconsin’s people – they stand by traditional family values and aren’t afraid to say so.

“I met hundreds of excited folks that came from all over our great state as well as many of our neighbors from Illinois; all had one common bond – to place a stamp of approval on Chick-fil-A with a purchase using their hard-earned money. Today, across the nation, the American people have spoken with their dollars and their patience. Wisconsinites came together to strongly affirm the lifelong, faithful union of a man and a woman, to take a stand for religious liberty and to defend the constitution.”
